What is applied psychology with a concentration in media and technology?
According to Wikipedia, “Applied psychology is the use of psychological methods and findings of scientific psychology to solve practical problems of human and animal behavior and experience.” But what does mean with a concentration in media and technology really mean?
Since all non-instinctual behavior is motivated by thoughts, and the only animals capable of thinking are humans, we can narrow this study to only thinking humans. So the topic in question can be restated in my own mind as:
Applied psychology with a concentration in media and technology is the use of scientific methods and findings to understand the influences that media and technology have on our thoughts and experiences. I purposely left out any reference to solving practical problems of behavior because it begs the question. The question being begged is not how to solve the problems but what are those problems in the first place. Once those problems can be strictly defined, then we can brainstorm ideas as solutions to those problems.
