Insight Learning

Insight learning, or the process of working through a problem to figure out the solution, seems like plain critical thinking. Both insight learning and critical thinking use different perspectives or angles to analyze a problem.

The phrase, “What if…” is always popping up in my mind whenever I am trying to figure out a problem. Each one of these “what if..” scenarios are different ways of looking at the problem. They are hypothetical questions, and the answers to those questions are insights. This is the same thing as conditional logic, which is critical thinking as I understand it.

Perhaps there are different types of critical thinking. There may also be different goals or expectations to critical thinking. Perhaps insight learning is critical thinking for the purpose of learning. But is there any purpose of critical thinking other than learning?
